Love you Grandpa

1913-2007
After a wonderfully long 94 years on this earth - my grandpa took his last breath on April 11, at 1:20pm. We had been expecting this for a while as his health had been steadily declining since the beginning of the year, but it doesn’t make it any less sad - especially with my pregnancy hormones on overdrive - I think I was the weepiest one out of my whole family…
We made a last minute trip down to Florida to be with family and celebrate his long life and transition to his next phase. We didn’t really have a formal funeral or wake (my grandma is taking his ashes to Colorado on the day of their would-be 70th anniversary)- we just met for breakfast with our immediate family and my Uncle Steve who flew in from Washington. Then we did a small informal ceremony where we each said a few words, and we got a bunch of white helium balloons and we all wrote messages to grandpa on them…

When we were done, we released the balloons into the air - sending him our messages and our love. It was really moving and special watching the balloons fly away….

I know his sweet soul is out there, looking over us.
Love you Bumpa….
