18 months!

Filed under: Rosie stuff - Administrator @ 12:07 pm

A year and a half old! My girl is officially on her way to being a 2 year old! Every month seems to go by faster and faster. Rosie’s language skills continue to evolve in leaps and bounds. She talks like a real little person now. She basically narrates our entire day. When she wakes up, she usually points at her dad and says “daddy”, then she points at me and says “mommy” - she tells us “hi” and gives us kisses to start the day - then she usually goes “down” stairs with daddy (she reaches out and asks to hold your “hand” when going down the stairs) where he makes her breakfast and they watch “elmo”. To “eat”, she asks for “yogor”, or “oa-mea”, or “ceweao” for breakfast - sometimes “apple” or “blamala” (banana). She has been such a good eater, she almost always asks for “mo” - but we usually make her ask nicely so she sweetly says “meeee” (her word for please) and then she says “tay too”. She knows when she eats she has to “sit down” and wear her “bib” and she usually drinks “wader” or “milk”. She is really good at using a “fok” and “poon” and when she is done she says “all done” and wants to get “up”. She snacks a lot throughout the day usually asking for a “crackow” or some “sheese”. She loves to read “books”, especially the ones with Sesame Street characters - she can name them all. She also loves books with animals in them, she loves to make all the animal sounds too…

We hung up a swing inside the house - basically stealing the great idea from my friend S and her winter survival gear. Rosie loves to “wing” and when I ask her if she is having fun, she says “yeah” and “fun”. Another fun game to play is to take the TV remote when mommy is watching something and change the channel and then clap and say “yay”. Then when I ask for her to give it back to mommy, she plays keepaway - coming up to me and pretending to hand it to me - saying “hea- go” and then taking it back and running away and laughing. She is such the jokester (takes after her daddy there). Another way she is taking after her daddy had me laughing for 10 minutes straight the other day. We were lying in bed nursing as we were getting up from a nap, and she all of a sudden stopped nursing, looked up at me and announced “faht” - and I asked “did you fart?” - to which she squinched up her face, leaned to the side, and preceeded to let out a loud, long fart! Obviously the girl has been spending too much time observing daddy’s bad habits.

She also loves to play peek-a-boo - or “peebo” as she calls it. And her big new accomplishment is counting to 10! Joe found all these Elmo games on the computer, and in the morning when mommy is trying to catch up on her sleep - Rosie plays counting games with Elmo and she can count all the way to 10 all by herself - clapping and saying “yay” after she reaches 10. She knows all the elements of getting dressed and asks for her “diapee” to be changed - she helps put on her “pants” and “showt” in the morning, but is always taking off her “cock” (yes, that is her word for sock). She loves trying to put on mommy or daddy’s “shoe” and when we get ready to go “bye bye” in the “car” - she grabs her “hat” and “jacket”. She knows almost all the body parts and will randomly come up to you during the day and almost poke your eye out declaring “eyes” - she will do the same with “nose”, “mouf”, “eaow”, “haow”, “toe”, “hand”, “knee”, and her favorite “button”. She also asks to climb up on my “lap” and will pat her thighs to emphasize exactly what she wants. She has started to say her name too - usually she says “baby” when she sees herself in the mirror - but now if we say “what is the baby’s name” she says “rwodzie”. I am trying to get her used to the concept of the new baby coming soon. We read a book called “I’m a Big Sister” and talk about the new baby in mommy’s uterus. Sometimes she will pull up my shirt, point to my belly, and say “baby” and then she will give my belly a kiss. It is cute enough to make my heart melt.

After “dinnow” at night, some of her favorite dishes “oop” (soup) or “noonool” (noodles) or “kickin” (chicken) and “fower” (cauliflower) - we usually go up and take a “baaat” and she loves to brush her “teef” (or loves to suck the strawberry flavored toothpaste off the brush - more likely) - then we put on her “jammies” and read a couple “books” and “nursie” and go “night night”.
aah - the sweet life of a 1 1/2 year old.

Guess What???

Filed under: pregnancy stuff - Administrator @ 3:56 pm

No, that is not just the bloat from eating so much over the holidays…
I’M PREGNANT!
We decided to give Rosie a sibling for her 2nd birthday - the new baby is due 3 days after Rosie turns 2!
I am 3 months pg and just starting to finally get my appetite back. I have actually lost about 5 lbs since finding out I was pg at the beginning of November - I just haven’t wanted to eat anything…

I am feeling much bigger already than last pregnancy. I was comparing some photos from last time, and I already look (at 12/13 weeks) like I did last time at 20 weeks!

So far, pregnancy has been harder this time, when I have to keep a toddler entertained and I can’t sleep in or nap whenever I want. Plus, carrying around a 22 pound little girl is already hurting my back - I know I won’t be able to haul her around much longer, and I am sure she won’t like that. She is still nursing, even though my nipples have been really sore, but I am trying to cut her nursing sessions down a little - to make things a little easier on me. Other than that, sleeping has been the only thing that has been really hard, I just have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep - and Rosie waking up at 6am isn’t making my sleep any easier…

We are really excited about the new addition to our family - Rosie already kisses my belly and says “baby” and it is so cute!

Our Happy Holidays

Filed under: misc stuff - Administrator @ 2:42 pm

We had a great time over the Holidays, and had a fun trip down to Florida, where we really enjoyed the warm weather!

We began our Holiday celebrations with a family Hanukkah party at Aunt P’s house at the beginning of December - it was a lot of fun and Rosie really got the hang of the whole opening presents thing.

She got some great toys, among them an Elmo aqua doodle pad (which has since turned into a regular drawing pad with crayon scribbles all over) and an Elmo DVD from Aunt P for the plane trip to Florida. We flew down to FL on the 18th - and spent the first couple days in Orlando with Aunt P, Uncle Emil (Lime), Bubby, Marisa, Noah, Cory and Ari. Rosie had a great time playing with Daddy and her cousins in the pool.

She really loves the water and loves to splash.

I forgot to bring an extra diaper to the pool to change her into after swimming, so we just put her shorts on, which ended up being too baggy without the padding of the diaper, and she gave us all a laugh with her “crack problem” when Joe put her on his shoulders for the ride back to the room.

After a couple days there, we drove down to see GiGi and Papa in Bonita Springs. We also saw Aunt Emma, cousin Ella, Aunt Jackie, Aunt Rochelle, cousin Stephen, Aunt Renee, cousin Kylie and twin cousins (who are getting SO big) Anthony and Joey.
We tried to get a picture of all the cousins together - but of course you know it was a futile attempt. Actually, everyone was pretty much cooperating except Rosie - she was due for a nap and was NOT in the mood to get her picture taken…

We spent a little time at the beach, just relaxing and playing in the sand

And we went to dinner to celebrate winter solstice and dressed Ella and Rosie up in matching dresses and they were too cute…

and we got a semi-decent photo of the family together

then went back to GiGi and Papa’s for the present exchange and Rosie was excited to open more presents and got some awesome new books and toys and some Elmo slippers that she loves!

Then, we came home on the 23rd and spent a quiet Christmas morning with just mommy, daddy and Rosie…

It was calm, relaxing, and we all stayed in our pajamas all day long…

Then a couple days after X-mas, we had more family and friends over for a big Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings, and there were MORE presents to open, and Rosie was in heaven. She got even more Elmo stuff, including her new favorite little fold out couch with Elmo and other Sesame Street characters on it, and some new cute Elmo pajamas.

New Year’s Eve we spent in Indianapolis, as the band Joe manages was playing a big party at the Hyatt, so we went and brought Rosie, and after we realized that the baby monitor didn’t work to leave Rosie sleeping in the room while we were downstairs, we decided that Rosie would just hang out with us. So, we put her heavy-duty noise cancelling headphones on, and she slept on daddy and mommy (thank god for our slings!) all night and she was the hit of the party. Everybody kept oohing and aahing at how cute she was sound asleep while we carried her around, and mommy and daddy didn’t have to miss the party either!

It was a great night, and a great year, and we are looking forward to an even better 2007!
