I’m with the band, man
Rosie had her first concert experiences in the past few weeks. I guess going to concerts as babies runs in my family as my mom took me to see Pink Floyd in Austin, TX when I was only 2 months old…maybe that’s why I gravitated toward my job in the record industry…
Our good friends in the band Gomez came to town and we took Rosie to see their soundcheck - and then the guys came over to our house for a BBQ afterwards. It was fun to see the guys again and I remembered how much I LOVE that British accent! I am now considering sending Rosie overseas to boarding school, just so she can come home with that accent - or she could just pull a Madonna, or Gwynneth and copy the accent anyway…
Here is a group photo of us and Gomez…

Then, Rosie’s first real concert experience came with the Pearl Jam/My Morning Jacket show. Joe has worked with Carl, now the guitarist in MMJ and has had a long relationship with Matt, now the drummer in PJ - so we went backstage to catch up with our friends before the show.

We were chatting with Matt in the dressing room, and Eddie Vedder came in and promptly got down on the floor to play with Rosie. It was really sweet, but Rosie was still dealing with some stranger anxiety so she started crying and crawled over to me. Matt joked with Eddie that he scared her - it was pretty funny…Hopefully PJ is still around and touring in 15 years and Rosie can feel really cool that she was hanging out backstage with Eddie Vedder and the PJ guys. We watched MMJ from the side of the stage during their set, and they were really good - but they put Rosie right to sleep

(with her baby headphones on to block out the sound). Then we stayed for only 3 songs in PJ’s set and Rosie started to get cranky and fussy - so I took her home and put her to bed while Joe stayed for a few more songs.
I hope Rosie grows up to enjoy music as much as Joe and I do - she already dances when she hears music and tries to sing along - it is so cute. I have a feeling we will be taking her to many more shows in the future…
