The windy city weekend
We spent the weekend in Chicago and had a great time. Joe had to cover a show for his Chicago counterpart - so we got to have a family getaway courtesy of Reprise - yay! We stayed at the uber-hip W Hotel on the lakefront - and it was WAY too hipster for us. Too much modern furniture everywhere (though Rosie enjoyed exploring in our room)

and techno music blaring at all hours and just the whole “I am trying so hard to be cool” kind of vibe from everyone. I think we are more Westin people than W people - though the Bliss soaps and lotions and shampoos were great - and the view from our room was spectacular (as the girl at check-in promised) - we could see Navy Pier and the vast expanse of Lake Michigan - really pretty.
The weather was sunny - but windy (shocker!) and cold. We bundled up and walked around the city though and I forgot how nice it is to be in a cool downtown area and walk around and shop.

We ate at our favorite restaurants - Frontera Grill - Yummy mexican food - Murai sushi - SOOO good its almost sinful. We went to Murai with our friends Nicki and Joel - who are psycho Michigan State fans - almost as psycho as Joe is about U-M - so of course we had to dress Rosie appropriately for her first time meeting them…

They were good sports about it though - and it was really good to see them both - it had been way too long…
Our final culinary delight in Chicago was a stop at the Weiners Circle - really greasy cheddar fries (made with fake cheeze flavored powder goo) and hot dogs (char red hots) and hamburgers (char cheddar burger) where Rosie looked like she was trying to escape from the baby zoo…

It’s the kind of food you love to eat - until a couple hours later when your body starts to protest…but it is a Chicago tradition and we had to initiate Rosie - she sucked on a pickle spear and played with the little paper condiment cups and seemed to have a good time…

I love the pictures — especially the attempted escape from the baby zoo, lol. It looks like you guys had a great time! Rosie is quite the traveler …
