A few random thoughts/comments from the last couple days -

The skin under rosie’s eyebrows gets red and splotchy when she gets fussy or cries - which is funny because her hair and eyebrows are blondish so you cant really see her eyebrows until the skin gets all red…

The moby wrap - I love it - it totally takes pressure off your shoulders more than the baby bjorn or other similar carriers - because you can stretch the material to spread out from your neck across your entire shoulder and down your arm a bit so it spreads the weight out more.

I have already been thinking about baby #2 - its still a bit too early - but we would like them to be close in age - maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years apart - plus I am 31 and Joe is 37 - so we are not exactly spring chickens! I haven’t gotten my period yet - and there hasn’t been a lot of alone mommy and daddy time since Rosie was born - so at this rate - looks like it will be a while!

My girl hasn’t rolled over yet - she can kind of roll from her back to her side - but hasn’t made it any farther than that - but she has a really strong neck - she has been lifting her head up since birth (I have a photo of her on the day she was born where I am holding her on my chest and she lifted her head to look up at me) - and she can now sit unsupported for about 10-15 seconds before she leans to the side and falls over - she also loves to stand while holding onto my fingers - I think she will be crawling soon because she loves tummy time and she always kicks her legs and after about 15 min she has “scooted” her body forward a few inches…. (my - don’t I sound like a proud mama!)

I am getting ready to spend 4 glorious days in sunny (hopefully) florida with my parents & grandparents - they are kind of on the edge of the path of Wilma - but all should be ok by the time I get there…

how do you count age?

Filed under: motherhood stuff, Rosie stuff - Administrator @ 1:00 am

My sweet girl was 3 months yesterday - but technically she is 13 weeks 2 days. Since 2 months - I have been using months and 1/2 months when telling most people her age - unless it is another mother of an infant - then I use weeks because I know they will understand - using weeks with most people just seems to confuse them. I think once you hit a year and a half you start going with years too - I always thought it was weird when people would say “my son is 24 months” - why not say 2 years?

rosie 3 months

Rosie will be 3 months on Friday! She has been varying her sleeping patterns a lot lately - a few nights ago she wouldn’t go to sleep until around 1am and then she was up at 5, nursed and went back to sleep for about an hour - and then was up for the day - last night she slept from 12 to 7am - some nights she stays asleep (except for short wake to nurse times) from 11pm to 9am - some nights she barely sleeps for 4-5 hours - I hope she will settle down into a somewhat predictable routine soon. I have been trying to not let her nap too much during the day - thinking that it would help to keep her sleeping at night - but sometimes she is just so completely asleep - she won’t wake up!

Today we left the house at about 1pm - right after she nursed herself to sleep - we ran a bunch of errands - in and out of the car a lot - and she stayed asleep the whole time, even after we got home at about 3:30 she stayed asleep in her car seat while I ate lunch - and I just now woke her up to nurse - after solidly sleeping for over 3 hours! I feel like she would have just continued to sleep if I hadn’t have woken her - and then maybe she would have a hard time sleeping at night…not sure if this is the right thing to do or not - I just ordered the No Cry Sleep Solution from Amazon - hoping it will arrive soon and answer all my sleeping baby questions…

On another note - my girl has definitely found her voice - she has been babbling and cooing a lot lately - and instead of the usually fussy whining cry when she is gassy - she has been letting out LOUD screaming crys. Plus she also does this thing when she gets fussy and is just about to cry where she breathes really fast in and out through her nose and she snorts!
It is so cute! I have to try to get it on videotape to embarrass her with later in life…

I am still hungry all the time!…I never seem to get enough to eat…I am trying to drink more water to keep my belly full so I don’t have the urge to snack all day - plus my sweet tooth is insane! I want candy and ice cream and cookies all day long! I am also starting an exercise routine to try to get my pre prego body back - my goal is to walk a mile or do 1/2 hour of yoga every day (not big goals - but hey - its a start!)
